Who: Bright Knight goes to Saint Louis
On Saturday, November 21 six players from the Bright Knights Chess Club community competed at the Saint Louis Chess Club Online Scholastic Chess Tournament. While we can’t be on the road to play over the board tournaments, we try to mimic the team support for our Bright Knights Chess Club players by hosting a Zoom Team Room to cheer them on before the start of each round. We were joined by two volunteers from UC Santa Barbara Chess Club, Hong Guan and Lucas Nguyen who were there to provide post game review for our players.
Participating players from the Bright Knights Chess Club community are Checkmate_sf, Yugary, and Polestarchess played in the Tango Rook Arena G/15 Section, and Jasjas08, Marty1111, and Jocey107 played in the K-6 Grand Prix G/30 section. A big congratulations to Jocey107 who tied for second place in the K-6 Open Section after dropping a winning game by making a three-move repetition that turned the game into a draw, with her final score being 4.5 out 5.0!
For players looking to play in the next Saint Louis Chess Club Online Tournament, the next event is on December 19, 2020. You can visit their website for more information: https://saintlouischessclub.org/education/scholastic-tournaments. When registering in the tournament, please make sure to put Bright Knights Chess Club under “Team Name” if you wish to represent our club. We will host another team coverage for their next tournament.
We want to thank all the players who spent their Saturday representing the Bright Knights Chess Club, and to all of our coaches and guest volunteers for supporting our players. We had a great time in this tournament, and we felt we were in Saint Louis with you all.
